Dear Contributor or Member of the South Dakota Coalition for Shared Parenting,

First, I want to welcome all new members to our organization.  We have a firm foundation to grow on and currently have 21 members!  We have a great message to convey to the people of South Dakota and our government:  Children Need Both Parents Equally, Not Visitors.

SB 60 passed the Senate.  It is not a shared parenting bill at this time.  We want shared parenting put back into the bill.  We have a long road ahead in a short period of time.  When you encounter powerful opponents from the State, Judges and Lawyers, it is to be expected.  That is why I am requesting that we remain persistent and ongoing and do our best to get others to convey this message to the people of South Dakota and our government.  I am and I hope you are too.  Pass this information on to others!

This bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee.  The schedule for this hearing is not set.  If you are able to testify, please let me know and I will let the primary sponsor know in the near future.  I also need to know what your testimony will be so that we are not repetitive with the Judiciary committee.

I want to let you know that this is a “grass roots” effort.  We do not have a budget for this.  However, I am committed and have been for the past three years.  We have a long way to go.  Up front, if you need more information that you are getting, please call me.  This is taking a lot of time for me as expected and it is impossible to know what everyone's needs are at this time.  I hope you understand.  If you want to know something, please call.  I also appreciate feedback!  Our website is full of information and updates.  I find this is the best way to communicate but realize not all have access.  I suggest you take some time to go to your public library to look at our site.  You will be greatly informed!

I am enclosing the legislative update, “The Truth”, list of House Judiciary Committee members (Joni C, Casey M are strongly opposed), Wisconsin statute information, and a copy of part of our homepage.  For new members, I have also enclosed our mission statement.  Thank you for your active support!

Best Regards,

Steve Mathis, President
The South Dakota Coalition for Shared Parenting

Ps.  There are no membership cards………………….Yet!
